SUMMARY:[Biophysics seminar] Matej Kanduč: "What can we learn from chicken eggs about polymer transitions?"
DESCRIPTION:Polymer brushes with stimuli-responsive properties have attracted substantial research interest in the past few years\, as they offer a wealth of opportunities to design materials that trigger structural and physico-chemical changes as a response to applied external stimuli. I will discuss our current experimental/theoretical study on conformational changes in nonionic polymer brushes induced by hydrostatic pressure and temperature variations. Interestingly\, we can learn a lot about these polymers from our everyday food – eggs.\n\n\n\n\n
