SUMMARY:Pol Morell: Taming Scheme Dependence in Precision EFTs: Formalism and Applications
DESCRIPTION:Effective Field Theories (EFTs) provide a universal language for physics across different energy scales. In modern high-energy physics\, advancing these theories to Next-to-Leading-Logarithmic (NLL) precision is crucial\, but doing so introduces a highly non-trivial dependence on the choice of renormalization scheme. In this talk\, I will present the formalism to systematically map results across different schemes and operator bases. Beyond presenting such a connection\, I will demonstrate how this framework directly translates into several interesting phenomenological applications. In particular\, I will give a special focus to how it has been successfully used to obtain the full set of four-fermion NLL renormalization group equations in the Low-Energy Effective Field Theory (LEFT).  \nhttps://indico.ijs.si/event/4060/

SUMMARY:Sheng Fong: Seesaw Cosmology
DESCRIPTION:In this talk\, we will look at seesaw cosmology where we assume the energy density of the Universe is dominated by nonrelativistic scalar field after inflation\, and perturbative reheating occurs when the scalar field transfers its energy to the Standard Model sector through right-handed neutrinos (RHNs) responsible for light-neutrino masses via the type-I seesaw mechanism. When produced relativistically and sufficiently long lived\, the RHNs generate a characteristic sequence of inflaton\, relativistic-RHN\, nonrelativistic-RHN\, and Standard Model radiation domination. Then\, we investigate the implications of seesaw cosmology for dark-matter production. We further study the regime where the phase space of RHN is saturated and quantum statistics becomes relevant\, obtaining a new power law in the temperature evolution during the scalar field domination era.\nhttps://indico.ijs.si/event/4007/

SUMMARY:Andrej Vilfan\, "Chiral motility of filamentous cyanobacteria"
DESCRIPTION:Many species of cyanobacteria exhibit gliding motility along surfaces to navigate complex environments and adapt to fluctuating conditions. We studied the gliding motility of filamentous cyanobacteria Lyngbya lagerheimii at the transition between different physical environments. On a dry surface\, a filament adopts a curved shape that turns right while gliding.  The mechanism involves a unique way of transferring the structural chirality to the macroscale and also a unique physical navigation mechanism. When two or more cyanobacteria filaments interact with each other\, the chirality of their gliding can lead to the formation of twisted tangles.\nhttps://indico.ijs.si/event/4318/

SUMMARY:Subham Saha: Effective Field Theory Effects on Type-II Seesaw Collider Searches: Reinterpretation and HL-LHC Prospects
DESCRIPTION:The Type-II seesaw mechanism provides an elegant explanation for tiny Majorana neutrino masses by extending the Standard Model with an $SU(2)_L$ scalar triplet. We present a reinterpretation of LHC multi-lepton searches for the doubly charged scalar within an effective field theory (EFT) framework\, investigating two effective operators that modify scalar pair production and decay\, respectively. After validating the experimental selection criteria in the canonical model\, we analyse the relevant signal regions and perform a statistical reinterpretation using the HistFitter framework\, employing same-sign dilepton invariant-mass distributions as the key observable. Our results demonstrate that these operators can significantly alter the inferred exclusion limits: the pair-production operator strengthens the mass reach to approximately 1600 GeV\, compared with 1050 GeV in the canonical scenario\, while the decay operator modifies the signal topology and can substantially weaken the sensitivity. We also explore representative ultraviolet (UV) completions that can generate these effective interactions and discuss the discovery prospects of the doubly charged scalar at the High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC)\, highlighting the implications for future collider searches.\nhttps://indico.ijs.si/event/4058/

SUMMARY:Ajdin Palavrić: How Much Flavor Symmetry Does TeV-Scale New Physics Need?
DESCRIPTION:Stringent bounds on flavor-changing processes pose a major challenge to new physics at the TeV scale. In this talk\, we will examine the role of flavor symmetries in providing protection from these bounds within the Standard Model Effective Field Theory (SMEFT)\, taking U(3)^5 and\, through reduction of flavor groups\, examine the interplay with SMEFT parameter space. We will then push this approach further\, asking how far flavor universality can be relaxed while maintaining sufficient protection for TeV-scale new physics. This will lead us to Minimal Flavor Protection (MFP)\, a framework based on the minimal continuous flavor symmetry (SU(2)_q times U(1)_X). With a small set of symmetry-breaking spurions of comparable size\, MFP reproduces the observed charged-fermion masses and mixings while suppressing dangerous flavor-changing neutral currents. We will discuss how this framework opens up richer patterns of flavor violation\, the additional CP assumptions required by electric dipole moment bounds\, and the resulting opportunities for complementary searches at flavor experiments and high-energy colliders.\nhttps://indico.ijs.si/event/4070/
