On 20 March 2024, the Jožef Stefan Institute awarded the Jožef Stefan Golden Emblem to encourage young researchers to be even more committed to scientific research, which is also a kind of call to action for the economy to use this knowledge as effectively as possible.
The Golden Emblem is awarded to the authors of the most outstanding doctoral theses in Slovenia in the preceding three years in the natural sciences, mathematics, medicine and biotechnology.
We are proud that two colleagues of our department have received the Jožef Stefan Golden Emblem, namely dr. Aleks Smolkovič received the Jožef Stefan Golden Emblem for his high-profile PhD thesis “Probing the flavor structure of new physics models with precision observables“, proposed by his mentor assoc. prof. dr. Nejc Košnik and prof. dr. Jernej Fessel Kamenik from Jožef Stefan Institute.
Dr. Jan Šuntajs was awarded the Jožef Stefan Golden Emblem for his outstanding PhD thesis “Nonequilibrium and statistical properties of isolated quantum many-body systems“, proposed by his mentor assoc. prof. dr. Lev Vidmar from Jožef Stefan Institute.
Jožef Stefan Golden Emblem was also awarded to dr. Matic Može for his outstanding PhD thesis “Hybrid structured surfaces for enhanced nucleate boiling heat transfer”, proposed by his mentor prof. dr. Iztok Golobič from Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana, and his co-mentor assoc. prof. dr. Matevž Zupančič.
Congratulations to all!
