[Biophysics seminar] Marc Cabases: “Interaction of SARS-CoV-2 with surfaces and surfactants: Molecular dynamics simulations”

I will talk about the work accomplished for two years of my PhD. First, I will explain the simulations of the interaction between the spike protein and human skin. Using all-atom (AA) simulations we showed which are the relevant residues of the S protein interacting with the skin. I will also talk about surfactants-SARS-CoV-2 interaction. Surfactants are typycally used as disinfection agents in personal care products against bacteria and viruses, including SARS-CoV-2. However, there is a lack of understanding of the molecular mechanisms of the inactivation of viruses by surfactants. We employed coarse grain (CG) and AA molecular dynamics simulations to investigate the interaction between surfactants and the SARS-CoV-2 virus. |
