On 26 March 2025, the Jožef Stefan Institute awarded the Jožef Stefan Golden Emblem to encourage young researchers to be even more committed to scientific research, which is also a kind of call to action for the economy to use this knowledge as effectively as possible.
The Golden Emblem is awarded to the authors of the most outstanding doctoral theses in Slovenia in the preceding three years in the natural sciences, mathematics, medicine and biotechnology.
Dr. Jan Rozman, our former colleague, who is currently in the UK, was awarded the Jožef Stefan Gold Medal for the high profile of his PhD thesis Physical models of epithelial morphogenesis, at the suggestion of his supervisor prof. dr. Primož Ziherl from the Jožef Stefan Institute and the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics of the University of Ljubljana.
Jožef Stefan Golden Emblem was also awarded to dr. Blaž Škrlj for his outstanding PhD thesis on Efficient Neuro-Symbolic Machine Learning, from the Jožef Stefan International Graduate School and the Jožef Stefan Institute and to dr. Andraž Dolar for his outstanding PhD thesis on “Influence of microplastics in soil on immune processes in the terrestrial crustacean Porcellio scaber (Crustacea:Isopoda)”, from the Faculty of Biotechnics, UL.
Congratulations!
