Our colleague, dr. Zala Lenarčič, shared her views on 2026 in the Večer newspaper.
“At the end of the year, I sometimes wonder whether I, my research group, and our institute have been successful. I am reassured by the recognition of the community: foreign colleagues often tell me what a strong center for quantum matter we have built in Slovenia, placing us alongside world-renowned institutions. This cell has grown out of the enthusiasm of tireless pioneers, work at the most innovative institutions, local cooperation, and competition for the most prestigious projects at the international level.
How can we turn this story into a general New Year’s dream? I place my hopes in a society that would build on the foundations of reason and argument. A society that would ask itself what the important issues are at this moment and who we need to connect with in order to solve them. I want a Slovenian society that would value what is already known, preserve it well, and build on it with the effort required for every achievement. A society that would strive for international success and co-create European excellence.”
