Zois Award for doc. dr. Denis Golež

Our colleague doc. dr. Denis Golež has received the Zois Award for significant achievements in the field of the theory of quantum materials out of equilibrium.

Doc. dr. Denis Golež is a theoretical physicist at the Jožef Stefan Institute and the Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, University of Ljubljana. His research focuses on the behaviour of quantum materials driven out of equilibrium by ultrashort laser pulses and electric fields.

He develops theoretical methods and computational tools to describe these complex processes and investigates how light can induce novel, hidden states of matter.
Through his ERC Consolidator Grant project, he explores how these short-lived states can be stabilised, potentially paving the way for future quantum technologies.

The Zois awards and recognitions will be presented at a ceremony on 8 November 2026 in the Gallus Hall of Cankarjev dom.

Congratulations to Denis on this well-deserved recognition!
